About the Sanctuary of the Crossroads

The Sanctuary of the Crossroads is a religious association dedicated to Hekate, the Ancient Greek goddess of the crossroads.

Our organisation is focused on…

Practicing and honouring Ancient Greek religion through Hekatean devotion rooted in historical and religious context.

We do this by celebrating a mix of historical and modern festivals, writing and hosting rituals, exchanging divination, and discussing a variety of topics to learn more from each other or see devotion in practice. Our festivals on our Festival Calendar, including a page for each one describing what it is and how to celebrate it. You can also join us for live or asynchronous events on our discord server to celebrate. We regard Ancient Greek religion and hellenic polytheism as a revived, reconstructed, living religion that is practiced by many in the modern day.

Sharing educational content about religion, practice, and Hekate.

We host lessons, workshops, and talks about a variety of topics hosted by different members of the community. These events are open to practitioners of all experience levels from those who are curious to those with more experience. Presentation Nights provide any member the chance to share a presentation of their own within a broad topic (such as mythology, specific pathways, deity highlights etc.). Any member is welcome to propose an idea to present or that they would like to see. Soon, we will have resources on the website to help you get started with or expand your practice, including book recommendations and ritual scripts.

Offering religious and spiritual services.

Our organisation hosts Bay Laurels for Hekate, a project that allows people who aren’t able to offer to Hekate on Deipnon for any reason to submit their name so that our ritualists can do an offering on their behalf. Sibylline Sessions provides oracular and divinatory services to those who needs it. Prayer Requests can be submitted to our community through our discord server for specific requests or to any of the Theoi. Coming soon, a page to speak more on our Meditative Deity Journeys which allow community members to connect with the divine through meditative journeying. All of our services are free, with the option of donating if you feel inclined.

Connecting members of our wider religious and spiritual community in a space dedicated to Hekate, should you walk a path with the goddess or wish to learn more about her.

We are inclusive, academically-driven, and accessible. We are an online-first, remotely-run sanctuary that doesn’t restrict participation by location. We believe in adapting the revival of our religion and temples to the modern world where we may not be able to practice as large communities in-person due to a variety of reasons.

The Sanctuary of the Crossroads is taken care of by a range of individuals, including those who identify as queer, transgender and gender-diverse, neurodivergent, disabled, and BIPOC.

Books or Personal Experience?

Lived experiences are just as important to us as historical and archaeological sources of information. We believe in building strong foundations and valuing our own experiences with the gods. Just like our liminal goddess, we exist in the liminal space between reconstructionism and revivalism, not prescribing to just one of these labels, and not seeing them as entirely exclusive from each other. Rather than seen as opposite ideologies, they can work together to bring us the beauty of devotion to the gods.

Who runs the Sanctuary?

Our team is made up of dedicated worshippers of Hekate and the Theoi, as well as devotees of other faiths and pantheons, who volunteer their time to maintain our platforms, connect with others, and honour the gods.

The Sanctuary of the Crossroads was founded by Quinton Li, a devoted Hellenic Polytheist and Kemeticist who serves Hekate.

Acceptance, Tolerance and Xenia

The Sanctuary welcomes members regardless of identity, background, or ability. We do not tolerate bigotry, discrimination, or appropriation, and have signed the Xenia Declaration.
